Mecadtron

MECADTRON GmbH develops software for three-dimensional design of electromechanical products.

The product NEXTRA is a system for three-dimensional PCB design. The software is based on the world's first 3D ECAD technology and combines the functions of conventional ECAD with the advantages of three-dimensional MCAD.

NEXTRA can be used wherever the design of printed circuit boards involves complex geometry. The system allows you to create accurate, three-dimensional electronic models of products which can then be used for design engineering, analytical and production-related studies. NEXTRA creates optimal work conditions for products

  • that are highly miniaturized (e.g. measuring equipment, switches, mobile phones)
  • that require flexible PCBs because of their shape
  • which are based on molded interconnect devices (MIDs).

The three-dimensional representation of the PCBs and the intuitive user interface also optimize work on conventional, planar PCBs used where there are no spatial constraints.

In particular, the functions offered by NEXTRA make it much easier to work with a large number of layers. Any components technology (surface-mounted / THT or through hole / SMT) can be used.

NEXTRA allows you to work with all design elements fully integrated into one threedimensional environment. The PCB is designed directly in the mechanical framework as a three-dimensional model right from the start. This offers many advantages:

  • Collisions and layout errors can be avoided right from the initial stages.
  • The integrated mechanical electronic PCB development creates synergy effects and major saving possibilities.
  • As the limits of two-dimensional PCB design are a thing of the past, you will be able to create new  products, optimize design solutions and further miniaturize existing products.
  • The time saved in design will lead to shorter development cycles, lower development costs and will shorten the timeto-market.
  • The support of various production technologies allows greater flexibility in terms of the materials and methods used.

 INTEGRATION

NEXTRA can also be used in existing development processes because it can be combined with the main ECAD and MCAD programs. The software is integrated into Cadence, Mentor Graphics and Zuken EDA

systems via interfaces for netlists, libraries, autorouters, autoplacers and 2D layout systems. It is connected to mechanical CAD systems via interfaces to Catia, ProEngineer, Unigraphics, Parasolid, Acis, STEP (AP 203, AP 214), IGES, VDAFS, DXF etc.
